Hallelujah, the Lord God Almighty reigns

Jesus is a truly majestic ruler, the commander of Angel armies we cannot see.

Meditation

Hi there,

As we saw yesterday, the name Lord of Hosts, or Lord Almighty, is not an abstract name for a distant divine power, but rather He is a person who is near to our needs, and at the same time, a truly majestic ruler, the commander of Angel armies we cannot see.

Today's passage gives us a form for these armies as heaven erupts at the judgment on Babylon, crying "Hallelujah" four times (the only uses of the word in the New Testament).

The Lord God Almighty reigns. The wedding supper of the Lamb has come. And the armies of heaven follow him, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, riding out in final victory.

These are exciting verses to copy out. I hope the hairs on the back of your neck stand up as you do so. I've included a rousing version of Agnus Dei for you to listen to as you copy these out today.

Today's text is Revelation 19: 1-8

As with yesterday, today's passage is a little longer and will take some time to copy. I've highlighted the instance of the name Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord Almighty. Leaving you to decide how much context to add for your own copy work.

Threefold Hallelujah Over Babylon’s Fall

19 After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:

“Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
2 for true and just are his judgments.
He has condemned the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.
He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”

3 And again they shouted:

“Hallelujah!
The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”

4 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried

“Amen, Hallelujah!”

5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying:

“Praise our God,
all you his servants,
you who fear him,
both great and small!”

6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

“Hallelujah!

For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
8 Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.”

(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

Encouragement

The Lord will march out like a champion, like a warrior he will stir up his zeal; with a shout he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.
