How to enjoy our Easter Season
The passages we'll copy, and how to prepare
Bible Copy Club Easter 2025
Hi there,
Our Easter season begins tomorrow with Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem and concludes on Easter Sunday with the resurrection.
Most of our passages this season will be taken from Matthew's Gospel account, spanning chapters 21 through 28. The exception is the passage that covers the crucifixion, which is drawn from Luke's Gospel. I chose Luke's Gospel for this passage as it is more thorough in detailing Jesus' communication with the observers.
Here's the run of passages with links out to Biblegateway to give you a sense of the flow. These passages will be broken up into smaller daily chunks over the three weeks between now and Easter Sunday.
Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem: Matthew 21:1-11
Cleansing the Temple: Matthew 21:12-22
Jesus Teaches in the Temple. The Great Commandment & Questions for Pharisees Matthew 22:34–46
The Plot Against Jesus and the Anointing at Bethany: Matthew 26:6-16
Peter Denies Jesus Three Times. Matthew 26:31-35 & 60-75
The Crucifixion and Burial of Jesus: Luke 23:26-49
The Forgotten Day Matthew 27: 62-66
The Resurrection Matthew 28:1-20
These passages form a daily chronology of the last week of Jesus' life. Taking each one, in turn, will emphasize how Jesus spent that last week with his actions culminating in the plot against him and his subsequent trial and crucifixion.
My aim by the end of this season is for you to have a sound record of the astonishing events of the most momentous week in history.
Until tomorrow,
Andy
