Jehovah Rapha. The Lord who heals
He is the source of restoration for His people as they learn to trust and follow Him.

Meditation
Hi there,
The second name in our series is Jevovah-Rapha. The Lord who heals.
Jehovah-Rapha is revealed in Exodus 15:26, just after Israel has crossed the Red Sea and entered the wilderness, and after the celebration song of Moses and Miriam.
After three days without water, they come to Marah, but the water is bitter and undrinkable. The people grumble, Moses cries out to the Lord, and God shows him a piece of wood to throw into the water, making it fit to drink. In that moment, after testing them and then restoring what was broken, God names Himself as the one who heals.
As we saw yesterday, the healing of the water is more than a practical solution; it’s a sign. God can take what is bitter, contaminated, or unusable and make it clean and whole again.
Again, He attaches a promise to this name, telling Israel that if they walk in His ways, they will be kept from the afflictions that recently befell Egypt. The point isn’t just that God can fix a problem when it occurs, but that He is the source of restoration for His people as they learn to trust and follow Him.
Jehovah-Rapha is not limited to one kind of healing. He is the one who makes clean and whole whatever has been made bitter, whether in body, mind, or spirit. Scripture shows God restoring the body (as with Naaman, 2 Kings 5:10), the heart (Psalm 34:18), the mind (as with Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel 4:24), and the soul (Psalm 103:2-3).
Today's text is Exodus 15: 22-27.
The Waters of Marah and Elim
22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water. 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.
24 So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?”
25 Then Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink.
There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test. 26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.”
27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.
