Jesus will transform our lowly bodies
Our last week in Philippians begins with a wonderful promise

Meditation
Hi there,
There are false teachers in Philippi—those who boast of their wealth, education, spiritual virtues, family ties, or Roman citizenship. These false teachers and misguided citizens have their minds set on earthly things, yet all of these things make them “enemies of the cross of Christ” (verse 18).
Paul once again reminds us that what really matters is our true citizenship, which is in heaven. One day we will be present with the Lord in his kingdom, and our bodies will be transformed to be like the glorious body of Christ!
What does this mean to you now, that this earth is not your real home? And that your present body will one day be glorified and no longer cause you the pain or difficulty that it might be giving you right now?
Paul wants you to find encouragement and hope in the time that is to come! By now you are used to his “Therefore…” statements, and he uses this in verse 4:1 to have us remember all that he has taught in this letter about living with one another as Christians and as citizens of God’s kingdom. He reminds us to remember who we truly are in Christ and to stand firm!
Today’s text is Philippians 3:17-4:1
17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.
20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
Closing Appeal for Steadfastness and Unity
4 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!
Encouragement
Living as Those Made Alive in Christ
3 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
