Moses commands a loving response
We love because he first loved us.

Meditation
Hi there,
We have spent this week copying out the full text of the Ten Commandments from Deuteronomy 5, when Moses reiterated to the people the covenant God had made with them 40 years beforehand.
Immediately in Deuteronomy 6, Moses commands the people to demonstrate their complete love of God by keeping the commandments in them, on them, and before them.
By ending with these words we're adding the appropriate response.
God wants complete love from us. This love is appropriate because He first loved us completely. His commandments are an explicit statement of that love as he has not left us to our own devices to determine how we should love him and others.
Today's text is Deuteronomy 6: 4-9
Deuteronomy 6
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
