The woman's sudden loss and remarkable faith
Instead of grief we see calm faith and purposeful action

Meditation
Hi there,
Today's verses mark an extraordinary turn in the story on two fronts.
First, the promised child dies suddenly and unexpectedly.
Second, the Shunammite does not initially mourn, but places the child on Elisha's bed and sets off to inform him.
There's nothing in the text to suggest that the woman expected her son to die, but its is clear from the text that she had faith that this was not the end of the story. She had not been blessed only to experience loss.
At no point does her faith waver. She is at once accepting and, at the same time, purposeful in seeking a solution. Believing that Elisha can restore her son's life.
Also, it seems that she hasn't informed her husband that the boy has died. Hence, he's confused by her wishing to visit a prophet outside of regular religious observance.
Reinforcing the sense of calm expectation, rather than uncontrolled grief.
Today's verses are 2 Kings 4:18-23.
The Shunammite’s Son Restored to Life
18 The child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the reapers. 19 He said to his father, “My head! My head!”
His father told a servant, “Carry him to his mother.”
20 After the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon, and then he died. 21 She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and went out.
22 She called her husband and said, “Please send me one of the servants and a donkey so I can go to the man of God quickly and return.”
23 “Why go to him today?” he asked. “It’s not the New Moon or the Sabbath.” “That’s all right,” she said.
Encouragement
Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
Psalm 62:5-8

God's Word In Your Hand
The woman's acceptance of these events reminds me of Horatio Spafford, who wrote "When Peace Like A River" in 1871. I've linked to a choral version of it below to accompany today's copy work.
