Today: Unprompted Thanksgiving
A call to reverent joyful worship

Meditation
Hi there,
All Thanksgiving is an act of remembrance. When we are being ungrateful, we are actually being forgetful. We fail to fully account for our blessings and gifts—notably, the gift of God's very existence and presence.
Just as we saw in Psalm 136 last week, we will also see in this week's short three-day series that there is a natural form and order to our remembrance.
First, we must give thanks to God for being God. Simply put, the mere act of coming before God to give him Thanksgiving for being "the great God" is the beginning and end of all Thanksgiving.
Circumstances may be a prompt to Thanksgiving, but they aren't the proof of God's goodness. We do not need ideal or better circumstances to be filled with Thanksgiving.
His existence is its own proof. God is good.
For this reason, we always have cause to be thankful under any and all circumstances. We can always "sing for joy to the Lord" simply because He is the Lord.
Today's text is Psalm 95:1-5
Psalm 95
1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
3 For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
Encouragement
All of creation owes its existence and maintenance to the Lord. He holds it with the same hands with which he formed it.
We can give thanks that the one who formed the creation will maintain and restore it.
