Weekly reflection: God is love

3 reflection questions for personal reflection today

Reflection

Hi there,

During our first week of the new season, "God is Love," we’ve explored the depth of this foundational truth from both 1 John 4:7-21 and Genesis 22:1-9.

We've copied out verses showing God's love as proven in Jesus, signaled through obedience and submission and received the call for us to practice that love with confidence.

Here are a few questions for your personal reflection this weekend:

  • 1 John Reflection: We saw that love is an "inspired practice" that must be seen. In what specific, practical way have you (or could you now) "practiced" or outwardly shown God's love to another person this week, making the invisible God visible through your actions?

  • 1 John Reflection: 1 John 4:18 tells us "perfect love casts out fear." What specific area of your life is currently dominated by fear, and how can you intentionally lean on the "perfect love" of God to bring confidence and freedom there?

  • Genesis 22 Reflection: The Genesis 22 account highlights the unique obedience of both Abraham, who was willing to offer his son, and Isaac, who submitted to his father. What is one specific thing God has recently called you to obey, a difficult directive like Abraham's, or a quiet act of submission like Isaac's, and what makes that act of obedience challenging?

P.S. Yesterday,I had an extraordinarily encouraging conversation with a pastor who has been copying out the Bible for 15 years. Look out for a fantastic insight from that call in my email tomorrow.
