Weekly reflection: How do you respond to Jesus birth?
Reflecting on the variety of reactions to Jesus' birth

Reflection
Hi there,
This week the passages we copied traced the responses to Jesus birth beginning with Mary's fearful yet thoughtful humility and acceptance of God's favor at the annunciation.
Setting the stage for the Jesus' humble arrival in Bethlehem, where the first witnesses were urgently called to worship, only to be contrasted by the world's troubled or casual rejection of the King who had come.
Jesus slipped quietly into the world and immediately upended it.
Taking the passages in turn here are this week's reflection questions;
Luke 1: In the Magnificat, Mary declares, "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior." How does her posture of humble trust challenge you to surrender your own expectations and submit to God's will in your life?
Luke 2: The shepherds in Luke 2 immediately went and spread the word about what they had seen and heard concerning the child Jesus. What does their urgent need to witness teach you about sharing the good news of Christ with others today?
Matthew 2: The passage we are copying focuses on the world's reaction to Jesus's arrival. What does this contrast of responses teach you about the posture you should adopt when encountering Jesus in your own life? Is Jesus wonderful news or is he trouble?

God's Word In Your Hand
This week's passages have been accompanied by Carols from Kings College. Today I'm linking to the first televised service from 1954. The reading is from Luke 2 and the carol is "While Shepherds watched their flocks".
